Junior Cloud Architect

Role brief

At Aptos, we’re seeking a proactive and skilled Junior Cloud Architect to join our innovative team. This DevOps role blends software engineering and systems administration to ensure the scalability, performance, and reliability of our large-scale, cloud-based applications and infrastructure.

What You'll Do:

  • Maintain and Optimize: Keep our observability and management cluster in top shape, ensuring continuous monitoring and management of cloud environments.
  • Proactive Problem Solving: Address issues before they escalate, manage failures automatically, prepare disaster recovery plans, and ensure system reliability.
  • Resource and Security Management: Oversee resource allocation, backups, and apply ongoing upgrades and security fixes.
  • Support and Training: Assist the CloudOps team and other departments, onboard new team members, and provide comprehensive documentation and training.
  • Enhance Observability: Implement and manage dashboards, alerts, integrations with third-party services, and assist developers with automation.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 5+ years in Information Systems, software engineering, network engineering, or systems administration.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Git: Basic workflow for software delivery.
    • Networking: Knowledge of IP addresses, subnets, routing, and protocols (HTTP/S, TLS, etc.).
    • AWS: Familiarity with core services (IAM, EC2, S3) and basic console usage.
    • Scripting: Basic Bash and Python coding skills.
    • Kubernetes & Helm: Basic understanding and familiarity.
    • Tools: Experience with Curl, wget, or Postman.

Preferred Skills:

  • Education: Degree in Computer Science or related field (preferred but not required).
  • Statistics: High school level knowledge (normal distribution, histograms).
  • Monitoring Tools: Experience with Grafana, Prometheus/Mimir/Loki/AlertManager, or similar.
  • SDKs: Experience with AWS or Kubernetes Python SDK.
  • Linux: Basic system administration skills.
  • AWS Lambda: Knowledge of deployment and monitoring.
  • Terraform: Experience with basic workflows and module creation.
  • Docker: Understanding of container image building and running.
  • Configuration Management: Familiarity with Ansible, Chef, Puppet, or SaltStack.
  • Powershell: Knowledge is a plus.

  • The pay range for this position is between $100,000 and $120,000 plus Annual Incentive Bonus. Starting salary may vary based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, the position being offered, location, education, training, and/or experience.
