Product Owner - Automotive Intelligence

Kpler

Role brief
At Kpler, we are dedicated to helping our clients navigate complex markets with ease. By simplifying global trade information and providing valuable insights, we empower organisations to make informed decisions in commodities, energy, and maritime sectors.

Since our founding in 2014, we have focused on delivering top-tier intelligence through user-friendly platforms. Our team of over 850 experts from 69 countries works tirelessly to transform intricate data into actionable strategies, ensuring our clients stay ahead in a dynamic market landscape. Join us to leverage cutting-edge innovation for impactful results and experience unparalleled support on your journey to success.

As Product Owner, Automotive Intelligence, you will own how Kpler's Automotive Intelligence product works, sitting within the Automotive Sector Squad and working closely with Product, Engineering, Data, and Market Intelligence teams.

You will translate sector strategy and validated customer needs into a clear, prioritised product roadmap and backlog, coordinating delivery across engineering, analysts, and the Sector Lead. Your focus will be on turning Kpler's data foundation into a native automotive intelligence workspace that delivers actionable insights and enables customers to make better decisions.

The product will span key areas including trade flows and lane capacity, schedule reliability, fleet supply and renewal, charter rates and asset values, ports and terminals, fuel and emissions, CII, and bunkering. This is an exciting opportunity to help build a new product vertical within Kpler, shaping both the customer experience and the way our data is transformed into intelligence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the Automotive Intelligence product roadmap and backlog, translating sector strategy and validated customer needs into well-defined epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria across the product's seven intelligence modules.
  • Prioritise product initiatives by balancing customer value, commercial impact, technical effort, data readiness, and delivery constraints, ensuring the team focuses on the highest-impact opportunities.
  • Partner closely with the Sector Lead, Data Engineers, and Automotive Analyst to translate market intelligence, customer discovery, and business requirements into scalable product capabilities.
  • Coordinate delivery across engineering and data teams, ensuring the roadmap accounts for technical dependencies across Kpler's AIS, ownership, emissions, and other underlying data sources.
  • Define and shape the automotive workspace experience, ensuring it integrates naturally within Kpler's platform, surfaces the most important executive KPIs, and delivers actionable insights rather than simply presenting data.
  • Own the product delivery cadence, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, release coordination, and stakeholder communication, ensuring the Q4 2026 launch and subsequent roadmap remain on track.
  • Conduct customer discovery and continuously incorporate customer and market feedback into product requirements, prioritisation, and roadmap decisions.
  • Define and track product success metrics, measuring adoption, engagement, customer outcomes, and commercial performance against ARR and logo targets.
  • Maintain a healthy and predictable backlog, ensuring clear requirements, effective refinement, delivery visibility, and strong collaboration between Product, Engineering, Data, and commercial teams.
  • Uphold strong Product and Engineering standards for quality, documentation, and ways of working as the Automotive Intelligence squad scales.
  • Skills and Experience

  • 3+ years of Product Owner or Product Management experience, ideally delivering B2B data, analytics, or SaaS products within a cross-functional Agile environment.
  • Strong track record of translating strategy and customer needs into a prioritised roadmap, well-defined backlog, and clear product requirements, with a focus on delivering against deadlines.
  • Experience working with data-heavy products and technical teams, with the ability to understand data sources, pipelines, technical dependencies, and their implications for product development.
  • Strong experience in customer discovery, with the ability to translate customer insights and market feedback into actionable product requirements and roadmap decisions.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across Product, Engineering, Data, and customer-facing teams.
  • Strong understanding of Agile product ownership, including backlog management, user story writing, acceptance criteria, sprint planning, release coordination, and roadmap planning.
  • Strong data and analytical literacy, with the ability to interpret data, define meaningful product metrics, and measure outcomes and product adoption.
  • Familiarity with product and delivery tools such as Jira, Confluence, roadmap management, and product analytics platforms.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to communicate clearly across different disciplines and levels of seniority.
  • A decisive and structured approach to prioritisation, with the confidence to make trade-offs, say no when required, and clearly communicate the rationale behind product decisions.
  • An ownership mindset, comfortable operating with ambiguity and working at pace in a new and evolving product area.
  • Nice to have

  • Experience or knowledge of maritime, shipping, logistics, automotive, commodities, or trade intelligence.
  • Familiarity with AIS, vessel tracking, freight/charter markets, emissions, or port and terminal operations.
  • Experience launching new products or modules within an existing platform.
