The Role
Veeva's Vault Clinical Data Management System (CDMS) is changing how life sciences companies manage clinical trial data, bringing EDC, coding, and Data Quality System (DQS) together in one platform. The Migration Team works within this group, focusing on migrating customers off legacy systems—such as Medidata Rave and Oracle InForm—into Vault CDMS.
We are looking for a Senior Migration Consultant with hands-on experience programming and processing extremely large clinical datasets. In this full-time, customer-facing role, you will serve as a trusted, customer-facing technical lead, partnering directly with Sponsors throughout active migration programs.
What You’ll Do
Partner directly with Sponsors and CROs to interpret legacy clinical database structures, protocol specifications, and data mapping requirements, applying Veeva migration best practices.
Perform data transformation, mapping, and script validation on large, complex clinical datasets extracted from legacy platforms (e.g., Medidata Rave, Oracle InForm).
Lead end-to-end data migration delivery across complex, active clinical trials per the project plan, coordinating closely with cross-functional technical teams.
Develop and configure validation scripts, and custom SQL-based listings to ensure data integrity, auditability, and cleanliness during ingestion into Veeva DQS and Vault CDMS.
Provide feedback to the Vault CDMS & DQS product teams based on real-world customer migration challenges, data volume bottlenecks, and client requirements.
Contribute to reusable migration tools, data mapping templates, and automation initiatives, mentoring junior team members throughout the migration lifecycle.
Requirements
5+ years of experience with EDC clinical software, covering end-to-end data management (database design, data collection, data analysis, query resolution, datasets, statistical reporting)
Solid understanding of clinical trial processes, particularly around data collection and review
Programming experience in languages such as SAS, R, Python, or SQL, with the ability to pick up new SQL-based languages
Background in the life sciences industry (pharma, biotech, medical device, CRO, or academic/public health), with experience across project assessment, planning, development, training, and implementation
Experience in a customer-facing role, ideally within software professional services or consulting
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while meeting project timelines
Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
Willingness to travel up to 10%, potentially including international travel
Nice to Have
Knowledge of DBT
Familiarity with data management standards (GCDMP, CDISC, SDTMIG, CDASH, ADaM)
Experience working with system integrators for IVRS, medical coding, eSource, CTMS, eTMF, or similar clinical technologies
Experience integrating or programming with REST-based APIs
Experience translating clinical protocols into software specifications, including technical documentation
Experience with Veeva applications

Degree in Life Sciences, Computer Science, or a related field
