About the role:
We are seeking a talented Sr. Revenue Accountant / Manager with high-growth start-up experience and a solid understanding of GAAP revenue recognition rules. The Sr. Revenue Accountant / Manager will be responsible for owning all aspects of revenue recognition, including month-end close, contract reviews, and financial reporting and disclosures. This role will serve as a key business partner to Sales, Sales Operations, Deal Desk, Business Systems, and FP&A.
How you’ll make an impact:
Manage the full revenue lifecycle, from contract review and technical assessment through journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement disclosures, ensuring compliance with ASC 606 and internal policies.
Review standard and non-standard contracts to determine appropriate revenue recognition under U.S. GAAP, including identifying performance obligations, allocating standalone selling prices (SSP), and assessing variable consideration.
Develop a strong understanding of the end-to-end order-to-cash process, including how quoting, ordering, and invoicing impact revenue recognition, and identify opportunities for improvement.
Partner with Sales, Legal, Deal Desk, and other key stakeholders to support deal reviews and bookings, providing guidance on deal structuring to mitigate revenue recognition and collections risks.
Prepare, review, and post revenue-related journal entries, reconciliations, and schedules to support monthly and quarterly close activities.
Monitor unbilled accounts receivable and deferred revenue balances, and investigate and resolve unusual or aging items.
Review and record commission accruals and amortization in accordance with ASC 340.
Perform monthly and quarterly analyses, including revenue by customer, deferred revenue rollforwards, revenue accruals, SSP, and RPO balances, to support accurate reporting and identify trends.
Execute manual and automated revenue allocations, contract modifications, and prospective modification analyses as needed.
Support revenue forecasting, ad-hoc reporting, and variance analysis to aid business and strategic decision-making.
Partner with ERP, RevOps, and FP&A teams to improve system workflows, reporting, automation, scalability, and data accuracy.
Proactively identify and implement process improvements across the revenue cycle to enhance efficiency and data integrity.
Support special projects such as new system implementations, new product introductions (NPIs), and international expansion by providing technical accounting expertise.
Play a key role in the financial audit process by preparing and reviewing revenue-related schedules and disclosures for external auditors.
Demonstrate leadership capabilities with the potential to mentor and develop team members as the revenue function scales.

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or progress towards CPA preferred.
5-7 years of experience in GAAP accounting and revenue recognition in startup and scaled / public company environments.
Strong understanding of ASC 606 and ASC 340, with the ability to apply the standards effectively in real-world scenarios.
Experience with ERP and revenue recognition systems (e.g., NetSuite ARM, SFDC, SPIFF etc.).
Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to analyze complex revenue arrangements.
Ability to effectively communicate with cross-functional teams and present findings to senior management.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with a high-level of accuracy.
Compensation:
At Skydio, our compensation packages for regular, full-time employees include competitive base salaries, equity in the form of stock options, and comprehensive benefits packages. Compensation will vary based on factors, including skill level, proficiencies, transferable knowledge, and experience. Relocation assistance may also be provided for eligible roles. The annual base salary range for this position is $120,000 - $170,000.
