Strategic Initiatives, Codex
About the Team
The Codex team is building AI systems that can write code, reason about software, and act as autonomous collaborators for engineers. Our goal is to transform how software is built—moving from tools that assist developers to agents that can take on meaningful chunks of work independently.
Strategic Initiatives sits at the intersection of research, engineering, product, and go-to-market. We focus on high-leverage, ambiguous problems that accelerate Codex adoption, shape the product, and unlock new use cases.
About the Role
We’re hiring technical generalists to work on 0→1 and 1→n initiatives for Codex. In this role you’ll identify important problems, prototype solutions quickly, and drive them through to real-world impact.
You might build new agent workflows, partner with leading companies to deploy Codex in production, or design entirely new product surfaces. The common thread: you operate where the path isn’t obvious yet.
This is a high-autonomy, high-context role for people who like to figure things out from first principles and ship quickly.
What You’ll Do
Identify and execute on high-impact, ambiguous opportunities across the Codex ecosystem
Prototype and ship agent-driven workflows, tools, and integrations
Work directly with users and customers to understand real-world developer needs
Translate messy problems into concrete technical solutions and product directions
Collaborate across research, engineering, and product to shape Codex capabilities and roadmap
Build demos, internal tools, or production systems that accelerate adoption
Help define best practices for using AI agents in software development workflows
Codex can already perform tasks like writing features, fixing bugs, and proposing changes autonomously—your job is to figure out what becomes possible because of that.
Who You Are
Strong software engineer or technical builder (any stack)
Comfortable working in ambiguous, fast-moving environments
Proven track record of shipping projects end-to-end
Curious and pragmatic—you can go from idea → prototype → iteration quickly
Interested in AI, but not necessarily an ML specialist
Able to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Nice to Have
Experience building developer tools, infrastructure, or internal platforms
Experience working with APIs, automation, or workflow systems
Familiarity with AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., Codex, Copilot, Cursor, etc.)
Experience in startups, early-stage teams, or new product launches
