Zoox seeks a Technical Program Manager to lead triage for autonomous vehicle fleet and simulation data, partnering across engineering, safety, and operations teams. The role emphasizes systems thinking, data-driven decision making, and automation of triage workflows in a hybrid Foster City setting.

Compensation
USD 171,000–219,000 / year

What you need

  • 3+ years in technical program management or engineering operations with a systems mindset
  • Data fluency: experience writing queries and dashboards on high-volume issue or operational data, using metrics to change work processes
  • Tool-builder disposition: experience building light tooling and partnering with engineering to automate manual work
  • Stakeholder leadership and communication: proven ability to align teams without direct authority
  • Structure from ambiguity: track record of breaking complex or ambiguous problems into workstreams, milestones, and owners

What you will own

  • Drive triage accuracy and routing by running triage reviews that classify defects, high-severity issues, and safety-critical events to appropriate downstream teams
  • Measure and improve triage health by tracking throughput, misclassification, latency, backlog aging, automation coverage, and regulatory-reportable issues
  • Program-manage triage tooling and automation, partnering with tools teams on requirements, sequencing, and adoption tracking
  • Manage intake and escalation paths, escalation criteria, and shared boards used by partner teams
  • Plan commitments and capacity by converting milestones into quarterly triage commitments and forecasting demand across onshore, offshore, and vendor teams

Role brief

Zoox is building a full-stack autonomous mobility solution from the ground up. The System Behavior Analysis team is the front line for triage of driving events and software issues from our vehicle fleet and large-scale simulation, turning that data into engineering signal.

As the Technical Program Manager for System Behavior Analysis, you will sit in our Platform SW Integration organization and treat triage as a systems and data problem. Triage sits in the middle of a larger loop, from the fleet and simulation through engineering fixes to validation and release. You will partner with software development, software integration, QA, safety, product, vehicle operations and the Program Management Office.

In this role, you will:

  • Drive triage accuracy and routing. Run the triage reviews that get defects, high-severity live-service issues and safety-critical events accurately classified and routed to the downstream teams that act on them.

  • Measure and improve triage health. Track throughput, misclassification, latency, backlog aging, automation coverage and regulatory-reportable issues, and use them to flag risks early and give leadership decision-ready updates.

  • Program-manage triage tooling and automation. Bring requirements to the dedicated tools and automation team, help sequence what gets automated, and track delivery, adoption and the capacity it frees.

  • Manage intake and escalation. Maintain the intake paths, escalation criteria and shared boards partner teams rely on.

  • Plan commitments and capacity. Turn milestones into quarterly triage commitments and forecast demand across onshore, offshore and vendor teams

  • Qualifications

  • Systems-Oriented Background: 3+ years in technical program management or engineering operations, with a systems mindset: you see a program and its hardware-software systems as connected parts, and trace how a change ripples upstream and downstream. Bachelor's in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Data fluency: experience writing your own queries and dashboards on high-volume issue or operational data, and a track record of using metrics to change how work runs.

  • Tool-builder disposition: experience building light tooling to run your own program, and partnering with engineering to automate manual work.

  • Stakeholder leadership and communication: proven ability to align teams without direct authority and give leadership clear, concise updates.

  • Structure from ambiguity: a track record of breaking a complex or ambiguous problem or goal into workstreams, milestones and owners.

  • Bonus Qualifications

  • Autonomous vehicle, robotics or other safety-critical experience, ideally with simulation, log replay or regression testing.

  • Experience program-managing internal tools or automation through to adoption.

  • Python or SQL, plus Jira and Confluence.
