About Quest Analytics
Quest Analytics is a leading healthcare technology company focused on improving provider network management and helping healthcare organizations ensure their members have access to the care they need. Our technology, data, and expertise support health plans, healthcare organizations, and government agencies as they navigate complex provider network, regulatory, and compliance requirements.
Position Summary
The purpose of this contract position is to provide dedicated support for the continued development and implementation of Quest Analytics’ design system. The role will focus on advancing the existing design system framework into a standardized, documented, and developer-ready component library that can be consistently used across product design and engineering teams.
This position will help establish reusable UI components, supporting documentation, and workflows that improve consistency, accessibility, and efficiency across the product suite. The role will also support integration with AI-assisted development tools, including Claude and Claude Code, to improve alignment between design and development and enable more efficient implementation and maintenance of the design system.
What You'll Do:
Component Design
-
Design and refine core UI components (form elements, filters, navigation, tables, etc.) on top of Quest’s existing token and typography foundations.
-
Ensure components work across the six-workspace shell pattern and are reusable across products.
-
Define consistent variant/state conventions (default, hover, focus, disabled, error) and responsive behavior.
Documentation
-
Build component-level documentation: usage guidelines, do’s/don’ts, states/variants, accessibility notes.
-
Document how design tokens map to code implementation.
-
Set up or extend a documentation platform (e.g., Storybook) as a single source of truth for designers and engineers.
Claude / Claude Code Integration
-
Configure Claude Code (and related tooling, e.g., Figma Code Connect / MCP-based workflows) to connect the design system to the codebase.
-
Build the workflows/config that let engineers generate design-system-compliant code faster and with fewer manual handoff steps.
-
Document the AI-assisted workflow clearly enough that the internal team can maintain and extend it after the contract ends.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
-
Work directly with Product Designer Manager and the design team to prioritize components.
-
Partner with engineering to validate implementation and resolve adoption friction.
What Success Looks Like:
-
Bachelor’s degree in a design-related field or equivalent combination of relevant professional experience and demonstrated expertise. A strong portfolio and hands-on design system experience may be considered in lieu of a formal degree.
-
4+ years of UI, product, or related design experience, including hands-on experience building and owning a design system component library, rather than solely working within an established system.
-
Portfolio demonstrating relevant UI and design system work, including examples of component library development.
-
Hands-on experience using Claude and/or Claude Code in production workflows, including configuring, prompting, and troubleshooting AI-assisted development tools.
-
Advanced proficiency in Figma, including variables/design tokens, component variants, and auto layout.
-
Demonstrated ability to create clear, usable design system documentation for both designers and engineers.
-
Understanding of how design tokens translate into code, such as CSS variables or similar implementation approaches.
-
Strong written and asynchronous communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across design and engineering teams.
-
Working knowledge of WCAG 2.2 Level AA accessibility standards and their application to UI components and design systems.
-
Self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
